He hadn’t really thought about her that much. Oh, sure, he’d thought she was nice enough. But her sweetness and her innocence, radiating off her in almost tangible waves, have always made him avoid even giving her a moment's consideration, knowing the appeal those very qualities have for the demon still very much inside of him. Now though, now he can’t push the thoughts of her out of his head. The way she yelled at him in the library, rebuking him with a fire worthy of her red hair, has caught him. She’s something special. Not just innocent and sweet, but spirited as well. The very combination calculated to intrigue Angelus...and Angel.

The End.

She always knows when she sees it that it’s more than just his ‘game face’. The ridges, the fangs, the golden eyes. Willow isn’t like Buffy. She doesn’t delude herself into believing that the soul makes the demon go away. She knows Angel is still a vampire, that Angelus is still there. After all, she’s the one who performed the spell that gave Angel back that soul; felt it as it passed through her to him; heard the demon howl as it fought to keep control. The soul is an addition, not a replacement. And Willow can see those same hungers, those same drives, those same needs that shone in the eyes of Angelus shining in Angel’s eyes. Even when he covers his true face with its human mask, Willow can still see the hint of gold in his brown eyes, can still see the ridges and the fangs. To her, that’s always what he looks like. Because she never forgets what he is.

The End.

Spirit, Outsides

Spirit:

Not just innocent and sweet, but spirited as well.

I can see Angel being very much attracted to this combination.

Outsides:

I like Willow seeing Angel for what he really is and still caring for him anyway.

Re: Spirit, Outsides

Thank you, Mare! I am so glad you found merit in both of these!

I've gotten behind in my fic reading, and even farther behind in my feedbacking, but the "Outsides" fic is great. The idea that "The soul is an addition, not a replacement" feels really true to the Angel/us mythos we get onscreen. And I don't think I've ever seen that spell -- which now that you mention it, must have been a fairly intimate experience -- mentioned as a point of intimacy for Willow and Angel(us).

Gosh! Thank you so much!

Sorry I didn't reply to you sooner, but LJ is not sending me all my comments, so I am going back and checking things.

Yeah, the the Recent Comments feature is a particular blessing when LJ's Comment Notification craps out, though it's no help for community posts.

This was one of the first backlogged comment notification e-mails I got. *laughs* I'm so glad all the comment e-mails were still in queue and not lost to the ether forever -- and of course very glad that LJ finally figured out what the problem was and could fix it.
