Backstreet Boys - Kevin/Nick - 006, hours

Title: Hours
Fandom: Backstreet Boys
Characters: Kevin Richardson/Nick Carter
Prompt: 006, hours
Word Count: 686
Rating: R (language)
Author's Notes: Nick's pov. And JC did indeed introduce them on December 7th in Atlanta, however all that other stuff? Yeah, just my imagination. ;-)

It's been hours since Kevin came home. Of course, it had been hours before that when he'd left without a word, slamming the front door behind him and backing out of the driveway so quickly that it was a wonder he managed to miss the mail man's van that was just passing our house.

He's in his studio now, and I'm sure he has his headphones on because god forbid I might want to talk to him, or disturb his fucking solitude. He's so goddamned stubborn, and I don't know whether to be pissed off or hurt. I think I'll settle for both.

It started yesterday.

"JC called." All I did was relay the message. Really, that was all. I got a glare and a raise of one eyebrow for my trouble.

"JC can kiss my ass."

I resisted stating the obvious, that there had indeed been a time when JC had done just that. I also resisted reminding him how much he'd liked said ass kissing. I don't have a death wish, you know? But maybe I was stupid, or maybe I really do have a secret death wish after all, because I kept going.

"He wanted you to know that he's going to be in Atlanta on the 7th."

"So?" Kevin could nonchalantly sort mail like no one's business, and he never looked up, never changed expression. Except for the muscle in his right cheek that began to twitch.

"He's going to be at the Q100 show, Kevin." The one we're performing at, I wanted to say. Don't you get it?

"Good for him. He'd better stay the fuck away from me. What's for dinner?"

Way to change the subject, Kev.

Dinner was strained. Well, not the dinner itself, because that would be really gross, but you know, it was tense. We ended up eating big bowls of chili in the den and watching a football game, and eventually my feet landed in his lap and then I landed in his lap and we forgot all about JC.

Until Kristin called this morning.

"I'm going to be in Atlanta on the 7th."

The muscle on the other side of Kevin's jaw began to twitch.

"Kevin, please say something. I thought we should warn you, that's all. And since you didn't return JC's call last night-"

"Fuck JC. Was there something else you wanted, Kris?"

I'm not entirely sure, but I think she said something about already fucking JC, and how Kevin used to like that too, and that's when he threw the phone against the kitchen wall, grabbed his keys and took off.

By the time he returned, I'd talked to both Kristin and JC, and given them a piece of my mind. Not that it did any good. JC told me the radio station was hyping him being there the same time as us, and he'd probably be the one to introduce us. Just fucking peachy, huh? They'd better have security on him, that's all I can say.

The threesomes he and Kev and Kris used to have were the talk of the town, even though no one had ever proved anything. Kevin did know how to be discreet, and it wasn't until Kristin left him for JC that the entire scandal was blown sky high. Management was thrilled. Yeah, this is me rolling my eyes. Anyway, he gave her an uncontested divorce, after stipulating that she was never to break confidentiality about me and Kevin.

Pretty pathetic, huh? Hell, like I said before, I'm not stupid. Kevin was torn up when she left him, and I made it my business to fix him. I've loved him since the day I met him and I wasn't about to let this chance pass me by. It took a while, but I'm persistent. Never mind that AJ calls me annoying as fuck, that's just his opinion.

Well, it's almost time for dinner again. This day has officially sucked rocks, but I have a bottle of expensive champagne and Kevin's mother's good crystal stemware. Give me an hour, and he'll forget all about JC.

Peace out.

BWAAAHAHA! Love that line!

Nice story; I guess I'd have to be more of a fan to know who Kristen is, and I'm guessing JC is that guy from N*Sync (or wherever they place the asterisk). But I like your telling it from Nick's p.o.v.

Two thumbs up!

Okay, now you're just stalking me. That was going to be the line I quoted too. LMAO

Lovely, snarky Nick - gotta love him.

I honestly don't know what about it makes me so... [I'm really not sure], but this piece was fantastic. I love Nick's attitude all throughout this. It just seems so typical Nick, to me, I guess.

Bottom line, fabulous work. And thanks for sharing!

I loved this one!

Poor Kevin. I was waiting for him to have a heart attack or something. The poor man definitely had a crap day.

I love how there's angst and humor all mixed into together. One minute I feel all pissy and the next I am laughing.

*hides JC from you so you can't write mean things about him any more*

*snickers*

Great little story!

This was gorgeous. Love it when you do Nick's POV.

Feel bad for kristin, though -- being caught in the middle like that.

That line could not be any more Nick Carter if it wanted to. You know, it was tense, he clarifies. Hehehe.

This also gets points for shock factor. I was all OMG, Kristin/JC?? And it gets points for Kevin being all calm and scary-angry.

Wonderful! I really, really like your Nick. He's relaxed and honest and not the least bit refined, and he's a great caretaker.

I haven't been here in days and forgot all about coming to comment on this excellent piece.

And upon my second reading, I just gotta say that I've decided this is now my new favorite ficlette of yours!

There were so many great words and moments and I did a little shuddering gasp at the thoughts of a Kevin/Kris/JC threesome, but how on earth Kris could leave Kevin for JC, as much as I love him, is beyond my comprehension. :)

More NIC POV's, pretty please!

I absolutely LOVE the way you write Nick. It's so him that it's scaaaaary. The little snarky "after thoughts" that pop into his head as he's relaying things...loooove it.

Poooooor Kevy *pets him*

Loved it!
